Annual Check-in Post

Not signing up to Yuletide this year, though I still hope to write some treats for it, so here is my annual, "Yup, still here, still lurking," post that usually comes with it. Fandom/media-wise this year I have been mostly rereading Discworld (I'm on book 39 of 41), rewatching Cheers (originally planned as a prelude to doing the same with Frasier, but nine seasons in I'm not sure I have the stamina for another show of the same length at my slow pace) and playing a lot of Terraria and Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup. No fic accomplished thus far, but I have some vague Discworld ideas percolating that are waiting on me finishing the reread. Hopefully writing some Yuletide fics will be a good warm-up for maybe tackling something longer in the new year.

Nope! Still not getting to my comic shop at the moment, sadly, so I haven't been updating at doomfans, but I'm still around. I feel like I should try to resurface and post at least once in a while, because I always appreciate seeing people on my flist update even if I'm just silently lurking myself.

I don’t think anybody nominated FF this year for yuletide sadly!! But I feel like inevitably if one’s patient, the next couple years will probably bear some interesting fruit lol

Hi! Yeah, I'm always lurking, but sadly I'm in still comics limbo at the moment so I haven't been updating doomfans. (Been in and out of lockdown and unable to get to my local comics shop, which is such a tiny family business it doesn't even have any social media presence or anything, but at the same time I don't like to start getting comics elsewhere because I would like to support the shop if and when they do reopen. So, just... waiting around, really.) It's a shame nobody requested Doctor Doom fic this year because I always try to write at least one for Yuletide, but I guess a lot of people will be in a similar boat with the erratic comic schedules this year. Hopefully I'll catch up at some point, but no idea when.

Eep sorry getting to this months late, I’m bad at checking dreamwidth - I think things have definitely slowed on the Doom comic front so at least you won’t have too much to catch up on! lol

They DID release a Marvel prose novel for Doom a month or so ago though! I actually did a write-up for it and finally got around to posting it, if you want to skim and see if you’d be interested in the book, it's here: https://doomarchives.tumblr.com/post/641846989998505984

It also gave me an excuse to finally make a dedicated Doom blog just to store all the extra Doom stuff I’ve compiled over the years, which is nice. But re: the novel, it was a good read!! I think you’d like it and it’s definitely more accessible I think.

Ooh, cool! Thanks for the link. I think I was vaguely aware there was a prose novel in the works, but I didn't realise it was out already. That definitely sounds worth keeping an eye out for!
